To Blog or Not to Blog?

Main Ideas:

  • to blog or not

  • whether people read blogs or not

  • the generations that blog

  • generations that read blogs

The perspectives of the data is somewhat confusing to what the article is talking about, the data shows the breakdown of age range on the blog site of both BlogHer and iVillage into groups from the ages of 18-76 years old.

The artilce also goes on to say that people would rather use facebook because of things such as the "Like" button and find facebook and other social networks easier to stay connect socially, either news or personal communications.

Personally I think that blogging and facebook are two different creative outlets, facebook and twitter and myspace are mainly used as a way for you to keep intouch with people. Where as a blog is really for you to express your own creativity and things that interest you. Yes on facebook you can write a status but with that status you are still limited with characters. But on a blog you have al the space you want to say all that you want.

This photographer used elements of "Six Appeal" to get the message across that immigration not only effects adults it efects children as well. The elements used is color, the colors from the flag and the colors from the baby's skin tone. Also the placement of the flag (grid/format) and how the baby is centered, this gives the reader a sense of endearment for this child. From this picture I ger that it shows how the children are the future and all children deserve a chance at great oppurtunities that we have in this country.

Traditional Media vs. Social Media

MEDIA DIFFERENCES

The difference between Traditional media and social media is the impact it has on the world, technology and communication. An example showing the difference would be the way people obtain their news. The morning and evening news and newspapers are the traditional ways but now many social networks such as twitter and facebook have tapped in on the news too. They are alike becoming a phenomenon with social media, in ways like tweeting latest news and smalls things happening in the community.

Blogging is an example of how your writing on the web is different from traditional news writing, on a blog you can speak your opinion as much as you want and you do not have to make it so long either. In traditional media such as newspapers the articles tend to be very lengthy and will continue on many pages. Writing on the web allows you to only point out the key points and important information, this was shown in class when we took the article off line and "webafied" it.

Blogging, texting and tweeting have influenced the way people get their news today because it allows people to not have to wait for the news to come on before they know what is happening in the world. With the use of camera phones and texting news can be uploaded to twitter or facebook from a cell phone before the news channels even get light of what may be going on. These ways are also a lot faster with the travel of news, and is over all a new way of communicating with one another.
